To facilitate the exchange of validation data among investigators and missions, data centers like the Atmospheric composition Validation Data Center (AVDC) require that all validation data submitted to the archive are formatted using the Hierarchical Data Format (HDF) in conjunction with the Generic Earth Observation Metadata Standard (GEOMS).
