DATA - Usage and Guidelines
Notice to users:
The data you may wish to download were contributed to the NASA Pandora Network and processed by NASA algorithms (except where noted). Each site has a NASA or non-NASA Principal Investigator(s) (PI) , responsible for deployment, maintenance and data collection. Non-NASA PIs have priority use of the data collected at their site. The non-NASA PI is entitled to be informed of any use of data from their site. We encourage, but do not require, the same courtesy for NASA PI sites. PI contact information is available from the contacts of this website (jay.r.herman@nasa.gov) and, in the future, will be found on data charts and in downloaded data files for each NASA and non-NASA Pandora site.
Recommended guidelines for data use and publication:
Although journal paper authorship and acknowledgement is the domain of the senior author and no policy is universally applicable, the Pandora Network contributors ask that every practical attempt be made to honor the following general guidelines.
Using Pandora Network data:
Please consult with the PI(s) of the data to be used or with jay.r.herman@nasa.gov
Referencing:
Always reference the appropriate key Pandora papers for any publications.
Publishing Pandora Nework data from a 'few' sites:
Please consider authorship for the PI(s) and/or the following acknowledgement:
We thank the (Project/PI) for (its/theirs) effort in establishing and maintaining (site name(s)) sites.
Publishing data from 'many' sites:
A general acknowledgement is typically sufficient and may read:
We thank the (PI investigators) and their staff for establishing and maintaining the (#)sites used in this investigation.
However, if Pandora Network data are a principal component of the paper then co-authorship to non-NASA site PI's should be offered. NASA PI's should be offered co-authorship if they contribute more than just data access.
